What is a dormant account?

Dormant accounts can be either of the following:

  1. Receivable accounts
  2. Unliquidated cash advances
  3. Unliquidated fund transfers

These dormant accounts are balances which remained inactive or non-moving in the books of accounts for ten years or more and where settlement/collectability could no longer be ascertained.
